1-Day Safari Itinerary

1 day Tanzania safari

Day 1  Depart hotel in Moshi at 9 AM for Arusha National Park. Tour includes the Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, highland montane forest, and views of the jagged Mount Meru (14,977 ft /4,565 m). You will return back to your hotel on the same day.

2-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

2 days Tanzania safariDay 1  You’ll start your 2 day safari in Tanzania by driving 4 hours from Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park, where you will have a boxed lunch.  After lunch, begin game drive with sights of large families of monkeys.  Look for elephants taking a break from the sun, huddled beneath the shade of the baobab trees. Other animals seen are zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and others. You will stay the night in your comfortable hotel near Karatu.

Day 2  Drive from your hotel to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. You will drive into the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater to see black rhino and prides of lion. Flamingoes, water birds, leopard, cheetah, hyena. Return to your hotel in Moshi for dinner and overnight stay concluding your 2 days Tanzania safari.

3-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

3 days Tanzania safari

Day 1  You’ll start your short 3 days safari in Tanzania by driving 4 hours from Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park, where you will have a boxed lunch.  After lunch, begin game drive with sights of large families of monkeys.  Look for elephants taking a break from the sun, huddled beneath the shade of the baobab trees. Other animals seen are zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, and others. You will stay the night in your comfortable hotel near Karatu.

Day 2  In the morning, drive from your hotel to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.  You will drive into the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater to see black rhino and prides of lion. Also to be found are flamingoes, water birds, leopard, cheetah and hyena.  Return to your hotel near Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3  The drive from your Karatu hotel to the Tarangire National Park takes roughly 3 hours. At Tarangire, depending on the season, you will encounter huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx.  When the rains come, you will still find game, only in smaller herds.  Late in the evening, you drive back to the hotel in Moshi to get some rest marking the end of your 3 day safari in Tanzania.

Day 3  Enjoy a light morning hike in the Southern Ngorongoro Conservation Area to visit the elephant caves (created by elephants digging with their tusks) and a nearby waterfall. In the afternoon, you will visit the Iraqw Tribe Cultural Center in Karatu to learn about the tribe’s local ways and the underground settlements used during their conflicts with the Maasai tribe.  You will again finish your day with an overnight stay in your hotel in Karatu.

Day 4  The drive from your Karatu hotel to the Tarangire National Park takes roughly 3 hours. At Tarangire, depending on the season, you will encounter huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx.  When the rains come, you will still find game, only in smaller herds.  Late in the evening, you drive back to the hotel in Moshi to get some rest.

Enjoy the magnificent view and peruse the many fossils housed the modest museum.  After lunch, drive to and stay overnight at the Serengeti campsite.

Day 3  After breakfast, you begin a full day of game viewing in the covering a large area of Serengeti National Park.  To maximize your time searching for game, you will take a boxed lunch with you.  Your safari guide will be on the lookout for zebras, water buffalo, gazelles, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, lions on the hunt, and various species of birdlife.  In the late evening, you return to the Seronera Serengeti campsite for rest, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 4  In the morning, drive from your campsite to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.  You will drive into the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater to see black rhino and prides of lion. Also to be found are flamingoes, water birds, leopard, cheetah and hyena.  Return to your hotel near Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5  The drive from your Karatu hotel to the Tarangire National Park takes roughly 3 hours. Day 2  After breakfast, drive from the hotel to Lake Eyasi. The meadows along Lake Eyasi’s shores and forest are home to a wide variety of wildlife including leopard, hippos, a variety of monkeys, and various birds.  You will return back to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 3  Begin your day by driving to Olduvai Gorge on your way to Serengeti National Park (3 to 4 hours).  Olduvai Gorge is a steep-sided ravine located in the Great Rift Valley, in which early human fossils were first discovered. Enjoy the magnificent view and peruse the many fossils housed the modest museum.  After lunch, drive to and stay overnight at the Serengeti campsite.
